Indian Country Today

Indian Country Today Media Network is a weekly U.S. newsmagazine that is the primary national news source for Natives, American Indians, and Tribes in the U.S. and Alaska. The ICT Media Network revealed their new online multi-media news platform in January 2011; it is a daily, hourly, or "as news breaks" online publication that now reaches 48,000 readers weekly. ICT's Media Network has a lesser yet significant Canadian and worldwide readership, which is increasing with their recruitment of journalists based in the regions they cover: Canadian First Nations, South and Latin American Indigenous Peoples, Pacific Islanders, Australian Aboriginals and Indigenous Peoples in all corners of the world. The newsmagazine was the next revolution that followed a well-established newsprint weekly that described itself as "The Nations' Leading American Indian News Source." The newsmagazine and online platform carry original news reporting on issues of interest to the former newspaper's Native American readers.

The newspaper was founded in 1981 by Tim Giago, located on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation but independent of tribal government. In 1998, he sold the paper to Four Directions Media, Inc., which is owned and operated by the Oneida Nation of New York. The newspaper was headquartered in Canastota, New York until 2011, when operations were moved to New York City[1]. Gale Courey Toensing and Rob Capriccioso serve as staff reporters.
